I'm feeling basically comfortable and cozy here. I don't do New Year's resolutions--though I like
filkerdave's plan to drink lots of tea, breathe, and blink regularly--in part because I don't tend to divide time by neat dates on the calendar. By "before I met so-and-so" or "when I was working at ACM," yes, but most such don't come at the beginnings of years, or on my birthdays.
It's snowing heavily, and I'm going to treat that as the "blizzard" exemption to "get outside every day in daylight" without checking wind speed. I will drink tea, and read my book on Spanish history, which has given me a fair amount of information, spent two sentences on the Battle of Lepanto, and periodically leaves me thinking "they don't write them like that anymore." From page 230: "Although Philip II's zeal for the preservation and extension of royal prerogatives was natural enough, his behavior also suggests that in his heart he considered religoon too serious a matter to be left to the Pope." (If anyone is keeping track, 79 new books in 2007, since I didn't finish this one by midnight last night.)
I also have a fine cuddly plush tarantula from the Biodome gift shop, not yet named. It has spinnerets.
