It isn't okay--but we can't really go buy new lamps until tomorrow. I'm okay at the computer, because the monitor is self-illuminating. But the rest of the living room is too dim to do much in. Andy is in the bedroom reading.

Backstory: we had two halogen lamps in the living room. One died some months ago, but we could live without it, because of the overhead fixture in the foyer. The other one just died. We spent some time looking at it this evening, then concluded that no, it really was dead. By then it was late, and we were tired.

Tomorrow, we go lamp shopping.

Can't you just buy some new halogen bulbs? Seriously, I have a perfectly functioning fancy designer floor lamp in my living room right now that I could never have afforded, but got when its previous owner left it on the street because the only thing wrong with it was that its bulb was burned out. I bought a bulb at the hardware store; problem solved.

Wow. Kinda makes me glad we have a spare (compact flourescent, not halogen) torchiere sitting around, if any of the other 5 die. :)
