That last paper reminds me of the extremely, erm, enthusiastic ducks that hang out by the boat dock on our local river. The mallards will attempt to mate with anything that resembles a duck; I've seen them going after Canada geese twice their size. They led to the following memorable conversation with a somewhat naive friend:
Friend: "Look - those boy ducks are trying to *drown* that girl duck!" Me: "Um, no, they're trying to mate with her." Friend: "Ducks have orgies???"
