While I was walking around Chinatown and Greenwich Village earlier this afternoon, I felt a few snowflakes: just a flurry, the sort where you can barely see that they're snowflakes rather than raindrops. Now I'm back in Inwood, and middle-sized white snowflakes are falling outside, clearly visible from across the room.

Unremarkable except in that they're the first I've seen in New York this winter; we don't expect any of this to stick.

In the course of that outing, I bought a ticket to see VNV Nation at Irving Plaza in April. It's been quite a while since I went out to a concert; I spent a few days deciding whether to go, because Irving Plaza has only a handful of seats, on a balcony, so this means being on my feet for a couple of hours even if I'm not in a mood to dance.

I did a brief workout this morning; I felt okay when I woke up, but it became clear while I was lifting weights that the flu shot was affecting me somewhat, beyond the sore spot right around the injection point. That was sore enough that I woke up when I rolled over onto that arm; not what I'd call ideal. (Oddly, I did fine on the cardio, and walking around after lunch.)

Gym numbers:

Cardio, 22 minutes plus one minute of cooldown, top heart rate 150
Chest press, 70 pounds, 8; 65 pounds, 9
Calf raise, 80 pounds, 12, 11; 72.5 pounds, 11
Balance ~fly, 55 pounds, 15 with each leg forward
Leg press, deep, 90 pounds, 5. I first tried the other style, at 250 pounds (completely untenable) and 220 (still an obvious bad idea). This was where I concluded that I needed to cut things short because of the flu shot; dropping back to 70 pounds instead of 75 on the chest press, and 55 instead of 65 on the ~fly didn't seem significant by themselves.
Balance lateral raise, 2.5 pounds each hand, 2 sets of 15. Doing it for balance, not to build shoulder muscles.

Crunches, 3 sets of 30
Back arch, 3 sets of 17
Yoga tree, 4 sets of {3 on each leg}

Stretches

I'm surprised you didn't get any snow that stuck. We're only about four miles north of you and we definitely got a solid, if thin, layer on the unpaved areas and enough slush to make driving very slightly tricky.
