I worked out the gym today, for the first time since before I went to Montreal for New Year's (I'd done a moderate amount of walking, a few squats, and not enough stretching in the interim). I had expected it to be more crowded, given the nature of New Year's resolutions; I wonder if its being an overcast Monday morning kept people in.

After working out, I met my friend L. in Chinatown for lunch. We wandered a bit after lunch: we both bought produce, and I got a ginger ice cream cone. Then we took a bus across the Manhattan Bridge, and another further into Brooklyn, where we discovered that the Brooklyn Botanical Garden is closed on Mondays. It was a nice day for a walk, though, so we walked along the edge of the garden back to Grand Army Plaza, then took a train to downtown Brooklyn, where we shopped for assorted useful things (dried fruit, oats, cookies, pate, tea), and talked a while longer. We'd not seen each other in too long, and it was good to catch up, and to have a bright, mild (for January, not compared to Saturday) afternoon to do it in.

Cardio, 16:30, top heart rate 142
Chest press, 65 pounds, 12; 75 pounds, 4
Calf raise, 80 pounds, 11, 10; 70 pounds, 12
Balance ~fly, 50 pounds, 15 with each leg forward, then another ten each
Leg press, 250 pounds, 15, 15, 12; 90 pounds, folding legs much deeper, 12
Glute machine, 37.5 pounds, 15 each leg [unless I got completely confused and did both sets with the right leg, which is possible]
Adjustable row, 70 pounds, 2 sets of 15 (my upper left arm felt a bit sore, I think I moused too much over the weekend)

Crunches, 3 sets of 30
Back arch, 3 sets of 17
Yoga tree, 4 sets of {3 on each leg}

Balance lateral raise, 5 pounds each hand, 15; 2.5 pounds each, 2 sets of 15
Squats, 2 sets of 15 (the second deeper, with rail available for balance); felt as though too much of the work was being done by quads, again
Bicep curls, 8 pounds each hand, 3 sets of 20 (10 pounds was too heavy for me to lift at that point, in that way)
Stretches
