I got home around 11 last night, and saw no message, so I went to bed. This morning I got up, made tea, and checked my email. Jim apologized for the short notice and wanted to know if I could come in today.
So here I am.
I've spent the morning, and will probably spend the afternoon, re-sorting the injury index for this set of court cases. I seem to be moving about a third of the back injury cases, because the person who had the files (had them far too long, in my opinion) didn't know that you can tell a lumbar from a cervical vertebra by its name. I've also been learning a bit about medical terminology as I go: Google is wonderful. Since I have no incentive for speed, and do have one for thoroughness, they'll get a good, thorough job of this.
I asked Andy if I was available today--it's his gaming night--and he encouraged me to take work when and as it's available. A good plan, except it means that the walk through the park this morning will probably be all we see of each other today. I was used to this when we were both employed; it's not a huge strain, just a nuisance.
