If you were in the UK and on unemployment benefit then for everything you earned over ?15 it would be deducted from your benefit. If you didn't work at all you would get around ?90 for two weeks. So to some people that actually does look like quite a lot of money. If you have to be unemployed then at least you're doing it in a country where it's not quite so depressing.
My figures may be out a little, but I don't think they are by much if so. And I'm not having a go at you - just pointing out the difference.
