So I went to physical therapy this morning, and after the electrostim and the ultrasound, while Sixta was stretching me and massaging me, I asked whether it made sense to continue. She and I are both quite satisfied with my range of motion, and with my strength--though I will continue the exercises and stretches for both--which leave my intermittent pain as the only issue. We discussed it, and after I told her I'd rather not go back to the orthopedist for a cortisone shot, she suggested taking a two-week break from physical therapy and seeing how I felt.

Sixta said that, at the stage I'm at, patients sometimes feel better after stopping PT because the deep massage can, in some cases, aggravate things. If I'm one of those, clearly we stop, and equally clearly I have to remember to tell anyone massaging me not to press hard on that area. If things remain as they are, we'll discuss what to do. If they get worse, I go back.
