I've gotten a massage from Kari Dunning, who uses some Feldenkrais and yoga techniques as part of her massage practice (for example, after doing what felt like a more conventional massage on my upper arm, forearm, and then hand, she had me rotate my fingers, one at a time, in small circles, first in one direction and then in the other (pinkie, index finger, ring finger, then middle finger). Apparently I have unusually good isolation of my ring fingers, especially the left.

My shoulder felt better for the massage, and Kari and [livejournal.com profile] shikzoid say I'm breathing better and standing in a more balanced way. I hope some of the effects last through randomness ranging from my doing some weeding (Janice didn't ask me to, but knows me well enough that she didn't try hard to prevent me) and tomorrow's trans-continental flight.

I used to see Karrie regularly for massages when she first graduated, and had a space next door. She was really good. Glad to hear the massage was helpful.

You may want to drink extra water tonight

Both because the massage may have worked some toxins out of your system, and to hydrate yourself in preparation for the flight. And don't forget to drink lots on the plane. It'll help shield you from the closed system full of other folks' airborne virii.

Karrie always hands her clients a glass of water as soon as they're dressed. She also warns me that I may feel lousy for a few hours after a massage for the same reason - floating toxins.
