papersky made us all a delightful New Year's Eve dinner, and we read to each other and drank good cider and watched a bit of snow come down, just a centimeter or two but quite pretty. I was commenting to xiphias about funeral customs, and realized I was remembering my mother's parents' funerals, and secondarily red_queen's mother's funeral. Okay. I punted exercise yesterday, so this morning I got up and went despite feeling decidedly like I'd rather not: by now I've been doing this long enough to know that exercising improves my mood. I have new glasses. I can't tell you much about Wiscon, beyond "what I did in Madison this weekend," because I went to almost no programming that I wasn't part of: half a panel, and part of Eleanor Arnason's reading. On our way to the subway, cattitude noticed a squirrel with something in its mouth. Julian woke me this morning by meowing. I am here in gorgeous cool sunny Montreal (overnight lows below 20 C!), hanging out with rysmiel and zorinth. The vet says julian_tiger is probably healthy, but to keep an eye on him, because if it looks like he has a cold, it might be the bartinella. Have a wonderful birthday, papersky!
