Unsurprisingly, I have the proofreading gig, at least provisionally.

That is, I go out to Port Washington tomorrow morning (to arrive between ten and 10:30), and assuming I don't do anything horribly wrong, and that I can tolerate them and the commute, this could run for several months.

The "interview" itself consisted of filling out some forms, taking a proofreading test, watching a video about the agency, and talking again by phone to Helaina, who was my original contact there, to sort out the logistics. This suits me: I work, and test, better than I interview. Helaina wasn't sure when the client needed me there, so agreed to call me back on my mobile phone; she caught me at the supermarket, but fortunately, I was looking idly at a display of yogurt, not talking to anyone, when the phone rang.

The work won't be exciting, but neither do I expect it to be physically or mentally painful.

Congratulations! Hopefully the job will turn out to be better than you expect. (Or at least no worse.)

Most excellent news.

People seem to be getting jobs, both perm and temp these days.

Hope that good luck dust rubs off on me!

w00t! w00t!

Now, don't forget to keep looking for a new position while this one is running. The biggest obstacle to finding a job is not having one....

Yippee!!!

I'm really pleased to hear about this. Although given what happened to the last person in the post, you might want to stock up on caffeine before you get there.

If you'd like/find it necessary, [livejournal.com profile] jonsinger and I can find you some really sturdy tea that will keep you awake through much.

Let us know!

Hey, good news. Paying work you can stand is usually a good thing.
