Our old futon sagged badly, and the resulting lumps were hurting our backs. Especially Andy's. So we went downtown Sunday, and bought a new one. It's a seven-layer cake of a futon, with cotton, wool, and foam layers. The store was able to deliver that afternoon, so Andy went home to wait, and we slept last night on our comfortable new bed. The cat doesn't seem happy with it: it has that odd vague hemp smell all new futons seem to come with, instead of smelling like us. She'll adjust, as we add our body odors, as she puts fur on it, and as the new-bed smell dissipates.
