I got the following from the person I'm currently doing freelance proofreading for:

FINALLY had time to look at your proofing ... Proceed w/the same types of
changes. Can't make all of them (e.g., hyphenation and some caps), but it's
very helpful for me to see what has been overlooked, even if I cringe as I
turn the pages.

Great work.

No, I don't know why she can't make the hyphenation and capitalization changes, even if the pages have already been laid out. Replacing a hyphen with an interword space, or vice versa, shouldn't mess up the layout, shouldn't even affect it in a ragged-right style.

She has sent me plenty of additional material; I put in a couple of hours, then decided to take a break, in part because it's gotten dark out and our living room isn't as bright as I'd like for this purpose when there's no daylight to help. I may put the rest of this off until tomorrow morning.

My doctor assures me that the odd pimple-like thing on my thigh was, in fact, a blocked pore. She has unblocked it, and advised me to apply rubbing alcohol twice a day for a week, and to buy a loofah or sea sponge to wash with fortnightly.

I started the day by turning back and postponing going out for half an hour or so, because of ice on the paths. It didn't help: the sidewalk on Seaman Avenue was still treacherous half an hour later. However, that got me time for a second cup of tea, at the cost of less time at the gym. I realized after a couple of exercises that I was weaker than usual, so proceeded to reduce the weights on everything else I did.
