redbird: a red bird: tattoo of a cardinal (tattoo)
([personal profile] redbird Sep. 15th, 2003 07:44 pm)
[livejournal.com profile] treadpath generously came over this afternoon with tea tree oil, an aloe leaf, and some spray-on anti-burn stuff.

Semi-randomly, I decided to try the tea tree oil first. I painted some on with a Q-tip. By the time we were done with a bit of socializing and a walk in the park--showing off the park itself and some fine birds--the blister had shrunk enough that [livejournal.com profile] cattitude suggested it might have burst. I can't think of any good way to check this, unfortunately--I'd already thrown away the gauze pad that I'd had over it, after attempting to re-tape it several times, so I can't check it for moisture.

So now I'm wondering whether it's a good idea to use more tea tree oil if I can't be sure the blister didn't break; if not, whether either aloe or Lanacane is suitable in that situation; and if it is a good idea, how often to reapply it.
