adrian_turtle's help, I have re-colored my hair bright purple. She did a much better job applying the coloring conditioner than I have managed without help in the past, which makes sense: she could see what she was doing, and which bits of hair still needed the coloring conditioner.
I used Overtone's "intense purple," applied to my dry hair, and I left it on my hair for about 15 minutes before I got into the shower. It will need more rinsing to get rid of the remaining smell of conditioner, but I had stood in the shower, rinsing my hair and blinking water out of my eyes, for as long as seemed prudent.
