vaccinated!

I just got this year's covid and flu vaccines, at my doctor's office. Given what the MBTA is like these days, I allowed lots of extra travel time, figuring that if I made my connections there'd be plenty of time for lunch before I got the vaccine, and if not, I would eat afterwards.

I did in fact make all my connections on the way there, so I had enough time to sit at an outdoor table in Davis Square and eat a mushroom crepe, and still be early for my appointment.

To my surprise, there were no other patients in the waiting room. I had only a short wait, during which someone walked into the office and I heard her telling the receptionist that she really hoped they'd had a no-show or cancellation because she needed the vaccine right away for Reasons. I'm guessing they were able to vaccinate her, rather than wishing her luck with a walk-in appointment at CVS.

And then I had a slow trip home by subway. My feet had started to hurt by the time I got back to the T station, so so I chose the trip that took longer rather than the one that would have had more walking.

I got my covid and flu shots last week, at my doc's office. Had a sore arm for a couple days, that was it. May it be easy on you.

Have they told you anything yet? I know when they will (theoretically) be available in Quebec, but not Ontario. (Having a partner in Montreal means I keep an eye on their news, more than the rest of Canada.)

I had mild to no side effects from the previous vaccines (original and boosters), so while I made plans on the assumption that I may be have side effects and need to take it easy tomorrow, I don't think that's very likely. cattitude is getting his booster on Tuesday (assuming CVS doesn't cancel his appointment again), and probably will need a bit of care afterwards, maybe even chicken soup. The forecast high for Tuesday is 29 (or 84 Fahrenheit), which is a little warm for soup but not ridiculously so.

Yeah, I got off easy on every shot except for the time last year when I did flu and covid at the same time. And even then it wasn't bad—I just couldn't lift my arms for a day.

Oh, good! While you were having your CVS appointments cancelled, I was having my Walgreens ones cancelled too. I've got a medical appointment I don't want to reschedule in a time frame that meant waiting around for my VERY SLOW clinic system to start providing the vaccine wasn't feasible, so I ended up with an appointment at CVS. They had cancelled a lot of people's the week before, but earlier this week they did have the vaccine.

They were doing their best and the pharmacist doing the shots did have a mask on, but yikes, that was too long in a space that too many other people were breathing in.
