Mostly for my reference:
Our cats get a prescription "urinary care" cat food. Since we no longer live near the vet's office, we've been having it delivered by Chewy. Chewy is intermittently out of stock of the kind of we cat food we need,
A couple of months ago, I dealt with this by going to the vet's office, and they gave me a "chicken stew" instead of the "tuna and vegetable stew" the cats had been getting. That was fine; both cats like both options.
So, when Chewy was most recently out of the tuna and vegetable stew "c/d urinary care" food, I placed an order for a chicken stew "c/d urinary care + stress" food. That had to be OK'd be the vet's office, which called yesterday, because it's not quite the same thing.
Since they weren't sure that would be the right food, and we have about three weeks' supply, I'm going to wait ten days or so, and if Chewy doesn't have the preferred food in stock, I will call the vet again. At that point, possibilities include getting the "+stress" chicken food delivered; me or
cattitude going to the vet's office for another case of food; giving the cats only dry food for a bit; or some other kind of food that the vet thinks is appropriate. The cats now get canned food, kibble (also part of that special diet), "dental treats," and bits of human food.
Yes, we are looking for a vet closer to our new apartment than Somerville; the cats will need their annual checkups in March.
