Praise then darkness, and creation unfinished

I think I did buy vanilla, on the same outing when I got the poncho. The other thing I remember buying then was a bottle of water, after noticing a bank sign giving the temperature as 35 (95 F), and thinking "it's not that hot" followed by "right, dry heat, get some water now." (My immediate reaction was because in New York City, walking around in the sun at that temperature would be much less comfortable, but the summer refrain there is "it's not the heat, it's a humidity.")
