The elevator in our building is out of service again. They say it will be a week, and then we'll have a snazzy new elevator cab.
In the meantime, I'm climbing six flights of stairs, carrying cartons of milk, pints of strawberries, whatever. Not fun. File it under "cardio," but I prefer to separate my exercise from the transport of heavy groceries. A pint's a pound, so two quarts of milk is four pounds.
The real problem is that it means I don't run downstairs casually, to look at ducklings or grab a bottle of seltzer: I head out in the morning, and come back in the evening, and stay there. For a week, I can live this way.
