I didn't sleep all that well last night, and dithered about whether to head out to the gym when [livejournal.com profile] cattitude did. I decided I might as well--if my knees kept hurting, I could do a minimal cardio warmup and lift weights. Besides, heading out with him meant being shown where a thistle had just bloomed. After dithering, I had a good workout.

Cardio, 33 minutes, top heart rate 150

Bench press, 50 pounds, 3 sets of 13
Seated leg curl, 80 pounds, 3 sets of 15
Lat pulldown, 72 pounds, 3 sets of 12

Crunches, 4 sets of 20
Back arches, 3 sets of 16
Cat-and-camel
Tree

Tricep pulldown: 40 pounds, 12; 35 pounds, 2 sets of 15 (slightly less weight than I'd had it up to, but being careful about form, so it does me more good, I hope).
Hip adduction: 115 pounds, 13, 11
Hip abduction, 100 pounds, 13 reps
Assisted chin-up, maximum assist, 7

They were doing some kind of quick construction/repairs to the free weight area, but only part of it was roped off, and the construction worker was willing to pass me weight bars. This was less than ideal--I wanted 40- and 35-pound bars, and got 40 and 25, and the 40 was the odd ripply bar, not the straight bar I usually work with.

Bicep curl, 40 pound bar, 3 sets of 15.
Lateral raise (bringing weights to center on each set), 5 pounds each hand, 2 sets of 15

Damn. Just realized I forgot to do the usual end-of-session stretches.

Lunch at Amy's Bread, where they misinterpreted my request for one chocolate twist (which I intended as part of dessert) and sold me two, wrapped for later. I wasn't really hungry enough to eat even one then, so it worked out, except that if I'd been thinking in terms of bringing them home, I'd have gotten the challah twists Cattitude likes, instead of the sourdough ones that only I like.

From there, I took a bus down to the Village. As I got on the bus, I heard my name. It was Lynn from my old job. We chatted a bit, and she said that ACM might be hiring freelancers again, and asked if I had a card. I gave her one--and I think I may now need to print some more--and am hoping to hear from her, or someone there.

The point of the trip downtown was to buy Assam Gold tea, which I get at McNulty's because the only loose Assam Porto Rico carries isn't nearly as nice. As long as I was in there, I also bought a quarter pound of their orange-scented tea, since I'm almost out of the nice "orange douce" I got in Montreal. On the way, I stopped in the post office and got a book of stamps. Thence home, via 181st Street for rye bread, to a game of Scrabble.
