EverVia the Washington Post: a new genus and species of North African dinosaur, described on the basis of museum specimens. What's unusual in this case is that the fossils in question were destroyed in World War II. The authors are working from a few photos, a cast of the braincase, and some written descriptions of the specimens, plus comparisons with fossils found elsewhere.

The authors' paper is in PLOS One, so there's no paywall. I only skimmed it (not being a trained paleontologist or bioinformaticist), partly looking for the explanation/justification of designating a no-longer-extant specimen as the holotype.
