redbird: closeup of me drinking tea, in a friend's kitchen (Default)

I had three appointments at the Mt. Auburn hospital label for sputum samples on three consecutive days, with the first appointment today.

I got there in plenty of time, checked in, read a bit, and then a properly masked tech called my name and led me into a room. (It shouldn't have been noteworthy that the tech was properly masked, for a visit that required me not to be, but I think the masking rate is better on the 66 bus than at the hospital.)

The tech had me humid, salty air through a mouthpiece, and handed me a cup to cough into. After about 20 minutes without real success we gave up and will try again tomorrow. slightly gross ) The tech also sent me home with an empty sample cup, with the lid screwed on and in a zip-lock bag, because I told her that some of my coughing at home has been productive.

From there, I took the bus back to Harvard Square, waited for Lizzy's to open, and bought two pints of black raspberry ice cream and one of chocolate, which are now in my freezer. That branch of Lizzy's will be closed for about ten days, starting on Christmas Eve, and this time of year is only open 3-9 on weekdays, making it less convenient to stop for ice cream on my way home from appointments in Cambridge.
