In paying bills this morning, I used up the last $9.34 in the health savings account that we had from when
cattitude was at Microsoft. In some odd way, this feels like an achievement, though the main effect is that we have to start spending our own money for medication, copays for doctors' visits, and the like. (This money was ours in the sense that it was money we could spend—not something like airline miles—but only on certain kinds of medical expenses; it wasn't fungible the way the money in my checking account is.)
The other practical effect is that I'm now carrying one less piece of plastic in my wallet, which is an advantage, if a minor one.
