We took Artemis in for her six-monthly checkup this morning. No waiting, because the two people with appointments before ours had cancelled on account of snow.
She's fine. The doctor is very happy that she's gained a pound since he saw her last: she has chronic kidney problems, which means wasting away is a real risk. He trimmed her claws, which she isn't sharpening and wearing down herself anymore. A couple were grown in enough that she bled slightly when he trimmed them, so she's now shut in her box for an hour to make sure she doesn't either get dirt in the wound, or drip blood in the apartment. And we'll be giving her an antibiotic for a week, precautionary for a cat with kidney problems who has been bleeding even a little.
Yes, this is good news: a fine healthy animal, protesting loudly at her current confinement.
