Yesterday, we unpacked the last of the boxes labeled "books" (or "books and something"), of which we had a lot. It turns out we did have a "Birds of Western North America," which was in that last book box, so I'm glad I didn't get around to replacing it. (We did decide that one world atlas was enough, and that we could do without a New York City street map.) There are still a couple of boxes of games, one of "pictures" (which I hope also has some clothing), and one "globe and pictures" (which probably is accurately labeled). Somewhat to my surprise, we have not quite filled the bookshelves (even though a few of them have miscellaneous office supplies, phone hardware, and other things I hope to find more sensible places to store).
This afternoon, I closed my account at HSBC (the international megabank that bought out the middle-sized bank that had bought out the six-branch savings and loan I opened that account at, way back when) and deposited the money in my credit union account. That's some monthly fees saved. (To my surprise, the banker didn't try to talk me out of it, or even ask my reasons, just said "I can help you with that," and did.) I was oddly pleased to see that the form I signed to withdraw the money in the form of a check had a line for my "signature and/or chop." [Technically, the account will be closed tomorrow, once that transaction goes through.)
