I finished up a productive day at work, refilled my water bottle, put it in my bag, and headed for the gym. At the gym, I handed them my card to scan, grabbed towels, went downstairs, found a locker, turned my cell phone off to save the battery, put it in my jeans pocket, took the jeans off, and started pulling useful things out of the daypack. Lock, check. Pen, check. Gym clothes--no check. I'd left them at the office. I didn't feel up to going back there, so I turned the phone back on and discovered I'd just missed touching base with [livejournal.com profile] cattitude. *sigh*

Walked a little, and then found no suitable Cattitude birthday presents at the Borders I went to.

I'd been going to head this "no organizational points," but I did succeed in calling the post office and getting through their voicemail hell. This led to being told that they can't tell me who signed for an insured package until after I file a claim for the insurance money. That's not what they told the shipper (this was for an eBay purchase). I'm going to try asking the super, on general principles: he may not like being asked before 9 or after 5, but his office hours have absolutely no overlap with the time most working people, myself included, will be home.

ETA: I seem to have had energy and ability to get stuff done, sans organization. I am making progress on the desk chair front as well--and that, like the post office, was about talking to someone, and then emailing someone else, and asking for help.
