redbird: London travelcard showing my face (travelcard)
( May. 30th, 2006 02:47 pm)
I got home at 3 a.m. yesterday, because of bad weather in Chicago (and the curfew at LaGuardia airport). I have hugged [livejournal.com profile] cattitude, stroked [livejournal.com profile] julian_tiger, slept, partially unpacked, and had my computer crash several times.

A real Wiscon report will follow, possibly in several parts, and based in part on longhand notes taken while sitting on an assortment of airport tarmacs.

redbird: closeup of me drinking tea, in a friend's kitchen (Default)

I was thinking of posting how many times my machine has hung and crashed today, but I've lost count. After the most recent crash, it occurred to me that this is the first hot day I've run it in this location (I have it under my desk; when it was [livejournal.com profile] cattitude's box it sat atop his desk), and I moved it forward a couple of inches, out of contact with the crosspiece that supports the desk surface.

I'm warm, but handling it, still drinking hot tea, and wearing enough clothes that I can walk out the door without stopping to grab more.
