I have used the adhesive (which travels under the name "Shoe Goo") to reattach the insoles of my sandals to the actual bases thereof. In the course of doing so, I discovered that one insole was almost entirely detached, so peeled it off and glued the entire thing down. I also discovered that the footbeds are cracked at the pads of both feet, so I may need to replace these soon anyhow. The label has stern warnings about using it in a well-ventilated area, so I went out to the park, found an unoccupied bench, and used a few random sticks to help spread the goop. The sandals are now drying in the building hallway, where [livejournal.com profile] julian_tiger won't get at them.

More promising, I hope, I have sent a resume to a recruiter for an agency that places editors and proofreaders (and other people, but those are the relevant parts for me). I got her name from a friend who has been working through her, and he told her about me. Thus, the cover letter begins "Marc [lastname] recommended that I write to you" before launching into my skills and such." Given what the next couple of months look like, a few short-term temp assignments would be absolutely perfect; I'd love to start something long-term or permanent after my upcoming travel: Wiscon, Seattle to see [livejournal.com profile] alanro, a trip to Boston somewhere in there, and then Montreal to visit [livejournal.com profile] papersky, [livejournal.com profile] rysmiel, and [livejournal.com profile] zorinth, where I will eat sushi and ice cream (the latter at Delices d'Erable, of course) and not worry about slipping on icy sidewalks.
