redbird: closeup of me drinking tea, in a friend's kitchen (Default)

I took [livejournal.com profile] julian_tiger to the vet this morning, for his annual shots and check-up. He was incredibly well-behaved, not howling at all in the carrier, even in the cab. While we were waiting to see Dr. Luckow, I chatted with some people who had brought their kitten, who looks like a younger/smaller Julian though with a bit more white fur. Theirs also likes water.

Julian weighs 11 pounds and seems entirely healthy. I did come home with a brochure about FIV and Feline Leukemia vaccination, because I mentioned Julian's through-the-window screen chats with Beau from downstairs, and the vet is worried about Beau. It doesn't seem likely that Julian could catch anything from him, but Heather's other cats could, and certainly he himself needs those shots for protection. Dr. Luckow is also worried about Beau falling, sufficiently so that he suggested I call the ASPCA. I am as well, but Heather doesn't seem to really comprehend that letting cats roam, however appropriate in the English countryside, is problematic if that roaming involves climbing up the fire escape to the roof of a six-storey apartment building (in US terms, a seven-story one). Or, perhaps, she doesn't comprehend that it's possible not to: having lost Oliver to a fall from that roof, she knows it's dangerous.
