I was in bed this morning, more-or-less awake, thinking that it might be two minutes before the alarm went off, or it might be an hour, time enough to go back to sleep. I drowsily decided to check.

6:41. My alarm should go off at 6:15, to get me out at 6:55.

I swore, jumped out of bed, grabbed underwear, dashed into the kitchen and put the kettle on, then remembered that I hadn't showered yesterday (no hot water, so I decided Monday night's shower could do for Tuesday). So I took the underwear off again and got into the shower. [livejournal.com profile] cattitude had thrown on clothes by then, and agreed to deal with the kettle if it boiled while I was in the shower, which it did--a very quick shower, but I'd carefully put up only enough water for one cup of tea. He also prepared my yogurt, and I managed to be out of the house at 7 (or 19 minutes after I got up), washed, fed, and with everything I needed.

I got to Penn Station at my usual time, which let me buy not only a muffin (second breakfast) but a bagel with lox cream cheese for lunch. On the train, I caught myself thinking "I could have stayed in bed", but I don't get paid for staying in bed.

At work, I started to make a cup of tea, and realized I had just poured decaf coffee onto a perfectly good tea bag. So I had to throw it away and wash the mug--fortunately, I had plenty of other perfectly good tea bags.

Rumor has it my official boss will be back next week.
