Dayenu

I'm doing my best to be easy on myself, because it has been a hard few days, and now I've got my period, which never helps my mood. However, part of what's made it a hard few days has been the increasing pressure to find more/better sources of income.

At times like this, it helps me to list accomplishments.

Thus far today, I have (in temporal order):

• Done dishes (hand-washing a few things, and unloading and reloading the dishwasher)


• Gone, with cattitude, for a nice long walk in the park, where we saw Dutchman's breeches and lots of violets


• Made lunch (serving up cold foods)


• Applied for a contract proofreader position (I'm sure I'm qualified, I don't know how bad the commute would be, but it's on Long Island, so iffy at best)

I'm thinking of baking cakelings, and will probably cook dinner, since we have much of a roast chicken left, and I have good, tasty, comforting recipes that work well with leftover chicken. We haven't had pilaf in a while.

Also, we've played Scrabble, and I'm caught up on my LJ friends list, but those don't feel like the same kind of achievements as those listed above. And Cattitude and I have both been missing Artemis, aloud and otherwise.

ETA: I heard back from someone at the employment agency fairly quickly. After I confirmed that I could work on Long Island, she contacted the client, and the position has already been filled. They'll keep me in mind for other things, or in case this comes open again. Apparently the client sometimes hires people and then concludes fairly quickly that it's not the right person. Well, I tried.
