Yesterday, I sent email saying I wouldn't be able to run the Minicon Green Room because I wouldn't know in time whether I'd be there. This morning, it looks almost certain that I will be going to the con. I don't have a great impulse to send another email saying "yes, I'll do this", but am strongly tempted to volunteer to be on programming.
I got up early to go to the eye doctor. All is well; I have a new glasses prescription, almost the same as the current one--but I told him I wanted another pair even if there was no change, so he wrote it without worrying that he was pressuring me to spend money. I then went over to Grand Central, where I discovered that the Transit Museum shop no longer has the kind of Metrocard holders I've been using. I decided that I really didn't want to go to the gym, so came home, and discovered that travel conditions, while simply damp in Midtown, were nasty here in a way they hadn't been when I headed out. It's icy, it's slushy, when it's neither of those the water is deep enough that my socks and shoes were soaked before I made it home, and it's all hilly, which does not combine well with ice. But I have tea, and dry clothes, and it's better already.
