Happy birthday,
serenejournal
I spent a chunk of this afternoon exchanging emails with someone who was looking for proofreaders, and then doing a brief proofreading test she sent me, and faxing it back (which meant going to the nearby stationery store to use their fax machine). I just heard from her: "your test was great but I hired someone else (he got his test back just after I sent yours.) BUT I am in desperate need of proofreaders and I will almost certainly use your services in the next two months."
So there's probable work there, but not (as I'd hoped) next week.
As a side note, I'm fairly sure that stationers' is a front for something--I've never seen another customer in there. But it's a good, if small, basic place: printer paper and pens, ribbons and copies and faxes, and I hope that, whatever they're covering up, they get to keep using this cover for a good long while, because it's handy to our home, and nice to have something breaking up the string of car repair places on that stretch of Broadway.
