I have achieved crocuses! Specifically, the large dark-purple kind. While I was staring at the other sprouts two or three times a day, the bulbs I tucked behind a hedge last year have quietly gotten bright and energetic and flowered. Hooray for benign neglect: they get no watering, no weeding, and no disruption, because I think I'm the only person who realizes there's anything between the hedge and the building.

My knee had been bothering me this morning, so I did an abridged workout, just upper-body and mat work. gym numbers )

Then I walked up to Tea Den and had shrimp with black bean sauce for lunch. After lunch, I strolled north a bit.

The crates of clementines outside Fairway looked dubious, so I went on north. I found the health food store L had mentioned that carries Maya Gold chocolate, and came away with two bars of Maya Gold, one bar of Green and Black's dark chocolate (minimum 70 percent cocoa solids), dried cherries, and crystallized ginger. Westside Market had no clementines, dubious or otherwise, so I got a red bell pepper, bread, brie, light cream, and grape tomatoes. I then made a quick stop at Bruno the King of Ravioli, where I got pesto (much of which I will freeze in the handy ice-cube tray) and pumpkin tortellini.

And thus home via the IRT to the discovery of crocuses, and a fine cup of tea prepared for me by my beloved [livejournal.com profile] cattitude.

This is mostly a placeholder to remind me that I want to write up the anti-war march last Saturday.

I was also going to write about yesterday's duck, but let's just note that I had a fine time eating much good duck and other tasty food with [livejournal.com profile] baldanders, [livejournal.com profile] roadnotes, [livejournal.com profile] cattitude, and [livejournal.com profile] volund. Cozy and cheerful.
