I'd about reached the point of deciding to send off a resume for anything headhunter.com emailed me, even if I was sure I wasn't qualified--a combination of "it can't hurt" and proving I'm still looking, in case the state Dept. of Labor asks.

So, this morning, there was one job posting: for a Cobol/Unisys programmer somewhere in Connecticut. I have no idea how a search for editorial work in New York City produced that. But I'm not sending them my resume.

The official "I did something useful today" for this rainy Thursday is that I finally replaced two buttons on my favorite cardigan, the one that compacts to almost nothing and is thus perfect for days when I might not need one, or as an extra layer under a jacket.

And now I'm doing housecleaning stuff over on Wikipedia, removing the equivalent of a spraypainted "SANE SMITH" and doing my best to keep this particular vandal from coming back. At molasses-crawl server speeds.

Before I got sysop status, I was tidying, but as a copyeditor--spelling and grammar, sometimes broader rewrites. And when I felt like it. Having sysop, I seem to spend more time looking for potentially dubious pages, and less having fun. Must think about this.
