I have a dozen crocuses in bloom. That is, 12 crocuses from the bulbs I planted myself, in front of the building--there are lots more elsewhere in the neighborhood, but these 12 are mine, fruit of my own (modest) labors, in that wonderful deep purple, right in front of my own home. And more sprouts coming along, including some chionodoxa (no, you haven't heard of it--they're tiny and blue, left from the year before, when the catalog misled me, saying they'd be up even before the crocus), daffodils, and what I think might be a tulip or two.
I've done almost nothing today, because I'm still getting over this cold. Okay, almost nothing means mostly sitting at the computer, and editing Wikipedia entries, a bit of Weblogging, and all. But little physical activity (laundry has been put off until tomorrow), and not even much writing.
I have here a check from the unemployment people for a whopping $85.28, because I worked three days on the week it's for. Some time next week, I get to call them and tell them that while I haven't returned to work, I earned enough that they aren't supposed to send me any money for this week. And then hope that the nice people at the National Law Journal are efficient about issuing checks.
