I've written two letters this afternoon, both hoping to get something done.
One is to a weekly newspaper: they want a copyeditor. I am a copyeditor. I think we could make beautiful, clean prose together.
The other is to someone at the NY Department of Environmental Protection. At the moment, the Department of Transportation (we're told) is replacing a bridge in Inwood Hill Park. Columbia is building something next to their boathouse. Both projects are damaging the marsh, and there are no signs up about either identifying contractors, permit numbers, or contact information. I'm hoping DEP can do something, or help me figure out what, if anything, can be done. Or needs to be--for all I can tell, DOT has filed a nice detailed plan and will be planting lots of friendly Spartina come Spring.
