It's still unseasonably, unreasonably warm and pleasant. So Andy and I went to the zoo. On the way in, we started by visiting the bison; I looked at the forsythia bushes next to the path, because forsythia sometimes blooms in warm Decembers, and found nothing but some yellowing leaves.
We had a fine time looking at okapi and snow leopards and bright tropical birds. We don't visit the World of Birds very often, because it's indoors; today we went, because we usually don't, and enjoyed the purple-and-yellow birds flying overhead.
On the way out, we passed the bison again, and the forsythia. Yellow. Just a few flowers, but a few that weren't there four hours earlier. Around the corner, and whole branches of forsythia, practically glowing, bright yellow flowers wide open in the late afternoon sun.
I'm used to forsythia blooming in December every few years, but not that fast. Near-record highs predicted for tomorrow, too. I'd better water the snapdragons.
