So I have the day off. But I have a cold, and the National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory. A good day to stay in, near the stove and the kettle and the cats. A shame, really: there's a partial solar eclipse. But it's not worth getting sicker for. Is this what they mean by maturity?
Maybe. For a total eclipse, I'd grab three layers of sweater and take my chances. And I will be going out later, for dinner with friends. A matter of priorities, maybe: friendship is a thing we do, and try to do well. Celestial mechanics take care of themselves. They have to: there's nothing we can do, so far, to fix them. Maybe I'll splurge on a ticket to Zimbabwe or Zambia next June, for the total solar eclipse, if my budget and their politics make it seem even halfway plausible.
