Julian seems to be quite hungry--he just doesn't happen to like lamb patties with cumin and scallions, but the kibble we bought when we adopted him is just what he wanted.
The adoption place said he had a cold, and gave us a week's worth of medicine (amoxycillin and something--if it's bacterial, this will be useful, if it's actually a cold, probably not). We'll dose him when he's finished eating: he was coughing/wheezing seriously enough that he's going to have to have his medicine, despite our profound doubts about the medical/veterinary knowledge of the friendly adoption volunteers. Those doubts began, at least in my mind, with the person who informed us that "vets don't study nutrition" and added that if we wanted one who had, we should look for a naturopathic or homeopathic vet. No, thanks. Given that we needed her approval, I refrained from asking, as she stated further opinions, what exactly her medical training had been. Also, while the people there were quite ready to say that most dried food is bad for cats, and they should get canned food, they couldn't tell us what Julian had been eating.
