I slipped on the muddy ground in the park twice this afternoon. After the first time, I headed for paved paths, which are much easier going. But feeding the mallards normally means standing on the rocks right on the riverbank. That was very slippery, and I not only slid but fell. Mud on my jeans, and a knee that felt as though I might have bruised it. I wound up feeding the ducks (and herring gulls, but that's unavoidable) on the lawn instead, which seemed to suit them. Muddy and annoyed, I came back inside, thinking about a bath, instead of going to the gym.

There was no hot water. I grumbled. I threatened to nap. I wrote nothing except a couple of quick emails. I kept trying the hot water.

It finally came back a half hour ago, about 3.5 hours after I first tried.

Hot baths are good. With a paperback book, and orange-scented bubble bath, they're even better. I feel a lot better now.
