My isp, panix.com, has apparently lost all or almost all of its NYC dial-up and DSL lines, with no estimate of when they'll get them back--the ones that weren't actually through the World Trade Center are in a building that's been evacuated.
So we can get in by telnet, if we have access through another system--I'm piggybacking on Andy's Bell Atlantic DSL line. That gets me shell access, which in theory covers just about everything--but I'm not used to doing Usenet that way, and not sure I want to deal with unfamiliar software that won't know which messages I've read. It's also willing to give me Netscape and ICQ, so I'm not out of touch.
