It's clearly summer

So far today, I have had fresh blueberries, cherries, and raspberries. The raspberries are local (via the farmers' market in Arlington Center), the blueberries are from New Jersey, and the cherries are from the Pacific Northwest. [I grumble about Washington apples, but Washington cherries are excellent.]

cattitude also got strawberries, fresh lettuce, a cucumber, and peas from the farmers' market.

Meanwhile, one of my cucumber plants is flowering, and I nudged 42itous's pea vine aside to give it more room. (For plants that were expected to be eaten by the local rabbits, those peas are doing very well indeed.)

Have you eaten some of the sugar snap peas? They're the best I've ever tasted, probably by virtue of being the freshest I've ever tasted. I did notice the cucumber trying to hang onto the pea plant, and pulled them apart. But it's okay, soon pea season will be over and cucumber season will begin.

I picked a few almost-ripe raspberries in my backyard yesterday. And then I was out at my boyfriend's house last night and his wife, who has a beautiful garden, said she picked her first ripe blueberry yesterday!

I haven't eaten any of the snap peas yet, but may go looking for some later this morning (while I'm down there doing more weeding).
