Gracious, an 18 month lease sounds so unlikely. But yes, of course it's better to look for your real home while in the area. We chose Palo Alto when John had one week to fly in from Nashville to find us a place to move back to in the Bay Area. After two years renting we ended up 25 miles north and are much happier in San Bruno as homeowners.
