Recently read:
Half-off Ragnarok, by Seanan MacGuire. This is fast-moving and not very serious (though with plenty of action plotting), continuing MacGuire's InCryptid series. This one is from the viewpoint of Verity Price's younger brother, a herpetologist/cryptozoologist, who is studying cryptid ecology. This is a world where gorgons are better company than unicorns. A fun book, if you're willing to ignore impossibilities like the gorgons and basilisks. I think this would work as a place to start the series, but it contains serious spoilers for Discount Armageddon.
Currently reading:
The Just City, by Jo Walton, which I am enjoying but is going slowly for some reason; the chapters seem to be more self-contained than in many books, which may be leading me to pause between them.
