I don't need all those signs and reminders that we'll never forget. Forgetting isn't the problem around here.
So, since I don't have a television (a blessing once in a while) and didn't want to go to any kind of organized-by-strangers memorial, I did my best to have a normal day.
Since it's Wednesday, that mostly meant going to the gym, then meeting Andy afterwards for a picnic in Madison Square Park, and picking up some fruit at the Union Square Greenmarket.
Hip adduction, 105 pounds, 2 sets of 15, then one of ten; alternated with abduction, 90 pounds, 2 sets of 15.
Cardio, 24 minutes and 20 seconds. Okay, anything over 20 is good, but 33 would have been nice.
Bench press, 50 pounds, 2 sets of 13, one of 8+5
Leg curl, 60 pounds, 3 sets of 15. (This is the current normal amount/goal--most of the other exercises fell short.)
Triceps pull-downs: bar handle, 80 pounds, 2 sets of 15. Rope handle, 50 pounds, one set of 15.
Mat work: crunches and back arches, alternating sets, 3 sets of 15 each, but the crunches didn't feel right, as if they were working the abdominal muscles, even with my eyes closed. Then a little of that yoga "tree" balancing exercise.
Adjustable row (not my usual machine, that one was still in use): 90 pounds, 2 sets of 15. Stopped there because my hands hurt, I think from gripping too hard.
Leg extension, one leg at a time, ten pounds: 2 sets of 12 on each leg, the second sets were hard to get through, because of the burn in the thigh muscles.
I finished with a few stretches, not my full routine: lower back, hamstring, groin, and upper back.
My A train skipped Columbus Circle on the way home because of "a police investigation": the only people on either platform were the men who run the newsstands and several police officers. I overheard someone (in TA garb) at 42nd saying that this would continue through the rush hour, but NY1 has nothing about it on their Web site. 42nd-125th is a long run without stopping, for a subway not going under a river, but we didn't get up to speed until we hit the usual fast run north of 59th.
