I wonder if it's not for the same reason that I can still listen to radio stations broadcasting in languages I haven't a hope of understanding -- listening to the beauty of a human voice, the mystery of words one doesn't understand, deliberately frustrating the impulse or will to know immediately, marvelling at the qualities of sound, rhythm, and melody that makes the language distinct from the ordinary everyday stuff we talk with. Perhaps?
