My idea of the right way is not overcooked: roast works; steamed works, if done briefly (say, 3-5 minutes for peas); stir fried is good. Stir-frying was what first convinced me that I liked, or could like, vegetables, but I've never mastered it myself; for a while I was saying "I'll eat anything if it's stir-fried with garlic and ginger," but that isn't quite true.
Some veg are more forgiving than others, of course, but I suspect you're not looking for hints on getting her to eat onions.
And some things are just weird: there's a flash-fried spinach dish (I've only had it in East Asian restaurants in Montreal) with the texture of nori, which is quite good (and I mostly don't like cooked spinach).
