Huh. I didn't know she was gluten-free! Thanks for sharing (I'm not, but good friends are)

Not free, but avoidant. I won't get horribly sick if I eat it, but I will bloat up like the new moon. With most grains, in fact.

If the occasion ever comes up, I shall make a point not to feed you grains.

*bows* much appreciated. And it turns out that the addition of xanthan gum may not be necessary.

Xanthan gum? That's the stuff, when you chew it, you start writing books short on plot but long on bad puns?

You can make gluten free matzoh balls by grinding gluten free high fibre crackers. It works exactly as matzohmeal does.

fjm, have you a brand name? Because I miss matzoh balls something fierce.

I use Trufree but I don't know if you can get this in the US. (www.trufree.co.uk). They are simply called High Fibre Crackers. But you need to look for a fairly thin and gluten free "cracker". Anything that looks like a cracker would probably work.

:) we are long time friends. Not sure why I said US.

Canada and the UK have greater market crossover than the UK and the US but it's not absolute.

More things to pass on to my celiac friend, thanks!

[identity profile] micheinnz.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for that! If I ever need dumplings I now know it can be done. :)

You have no idea how much I love you. I requested dumplings in my soup and my mother refused to do it since it would just make me feel worse. Thank you for making this sick celiac very happy today.
