another icon post

This image of a clenched fist on a rainbow flag background speaks for itself, I think. You may be seeing a lot of it. Assume anything with this icon is political.

The image is a lapel pin/button I picked this up at Boston Pride a couple of weeks ago. It's the version of the rainbow flag with brown and black stripes, to be more inclusive of people of color.

ETA: Obviously, I have no claim on this image; if anyone else wants to use this icon, help yourselves.

Gratuitous icon post: "bi-furious" pin I got at last Friday's Dyke March.

I claim no exclusivity here, if you like and want to use this icon: it's a cell phone photo of a pin someone else created. (The original image may be under copyright; as the photographer, I hereby place this cropped photo of it in the public domain.)

ETA: I am pleased by all the positive response this one is getting.

One panel from a very old Doonesbury cartoon about Watergate, specifically referring to John Dean*. I suspect I may be using this one a lot.

This is a cardinal that is half-male, half-female (vertically divided). Via [livejournal.com profile] beetiger. The technical term seems to be gynandromorph. I'm assuming it's sterile, but haven't done any reading, just followed the link to the image

This is another picture from the same weekend. I don't know if I like it, but it occurs to me that I'm not sure I have any other photos of myself in profile. I don't mean as userpics, or recent, I mean at all.

[livejournal.com profile] dd_b posted a batch of his photos from the Farthing Party to his website. I found some of myself that I like. This icon is made from one of them; the photo is from the Survivors' Tea Party, and was taken in front of [livejournal.com profile] papersky's refrigerator, though the teacup is [livejournal.com profile] gerisullivan's.

This isn't the only icon I made from those photos, so you may see more GIP posts soon.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] cheshyre for the pointer, though she was calling attention to their images of cocktails as possible icon bases.

I've been wanting a books/reading icon for a while. This one is a piece of a picture from Red Hot Library Smut, as linked by [livejournal.com profile] cheshyre in her Riba Rambles blog.

At some point I may replace this with a picture of me reading, if I can get a good one.

I'm still trying for a good, or good enough, icon of an indri to use for links and pointing out cool things I've found. How's this? I may just forget about the text and find a nice picture of an indri, if this still seems too small/illegible.

Seeking a better icon--non-gratuitous icon post

I'm not entirely happy with this icon--the edges of the teacup look pixelated. Would someone who has and understands image-editing software be willing and able to make me a similar but better icon?

What I'm looking for is one that is clearly and visibly a cup of tea, so the liquid has to show and be visibly tea rather than coffee. The pouring image isn't necessary.

That worked well: simple dinner, timed properly

Tonight I made us a tuna steak (courtesy of the fishmonger at the Greenmarket), steamed fresh peas (supermarket), and croissants (part-baked and frozen). None of the items is complicated, but I'd been a little nervous about tuna steak, because I burned myself last time I cooked it, and the timing was a bit tricky to get everything to come out right.

I rubbed what seemed like a lot of ginger paste on the tuna, but got only intermittent ginger-flavored bites. It was all good, though: seared on the outside, pleasantly rare inside. And, by using spatula and fork to turn it, and wearing cooking mitts on both hands, I avoided injuries. The peas came out just right, as did the croissants.

We are well fed, and I am happy.

(This is also an excuse to use my new food icon.)
